A Canton woman has avoided the death penalty for her role in a brutal burning and beating death last summer.

Monica Washington was one of three people arrested for the slaying of 29-year-old Celeste Fronsman, who was found naked and badly burned in Muskingum County on August 26th.

She died two days later at a hospital in Columbus.

Washington pled guilty to aggravated murder on Monday, and her sentence will be handed down this summer.

Co-defendant Katrina Culberson took a similar deal, but LaFonse Dixon is headed to trial this July for his role in the murder.

Prosecutors want Washington's sentence to be issued once Dixon's trial is complete. He is still facing the death penalty.
