Police arrested five people after they busted a meth lab at an Akron home over the weekend.
Akron police say officers could smell a strong odor of chemicals, commonly used to make meth, coming from the basement windows of a home in the 12000 block of Florida Avenue. When police checked the back the home, officers say people inside began running around and one suspect attempted to jump out of the window. He was later identified as Joseph Michael Overdorf, 29, of Florida Avenue. He was arrested and taken into custody.
Authorities say the officers announced their presence at the residence several times before executing a search warrant where they found items commonly used to manufacture methamphetamines.
Four individuals inside of the house were also arrested: Alan E. Devine, 23, of Florida Avenue; John M. Greathouse, 30, of Florida Avenue; Tracy Marie Strata, 23, of Florida Avenue; and Amanda L. Cline, 26, of Eldorado Drive in Springfield Township.
They were charged with illegal manufacturing of methamphetamines and illegal assembly of chemicals and booked into the Summit County Jail.
