Costume Shopping

What are you going to be for Halloween?

AkronNewsNow talked to a couple of different locally-owned costume shops, where there doesn't seem to be extremely high demand for any particular costume this year.

"The girls are, of course, tuned in to the princesses," said Pocock.  "That seems to be a recurring theme each year.  Princesses are always very popular."

Meralie Pocock with Mr. Fun's in Cuyahoga Falls says super heroes are popular with boys, although she says there are male and female versions for adults and children for ninja turtles as well as super heroes and other characters, such as Thor.

Akrondesign.com's Mary Fisher says they put their heads together to meet demand by people who want to dress up like the Kia hamsters.

"We've been asked for those a lot," said Fisher.  "There hasn't been a costume made, so we custom-made some masks."

Both Pocock and Fisher say the economy plays a big role as people weigh their Halloween costume options.  They say many people are buying accessories and make up as they put together their own costumes.
