Saturday was a day to get belongings out of Larry Modic's soon to be demolished home.

The Akron military veteran's home is scheduled to be torn down this coming Tuesday. He lost a court challenge Thursday to stop the demolition of a home he says was sold to him without notification of numerous pending code violations.

State representative Zach Milkovich offered a place for Modic's belongings. Milkovich helped move Modic's items out of his home all day Saturday.

Crews are expected to remove asbestos on Monday, before the scheduled demolition date on Tuesday.

In a statement issued by his attorney, Modic thanked everyone who has helped him.

In that statement, Modic said, "The simple answer is: Don't tear down houses people live in, are working in, or want to save. Tear down the houses people don't want."
