The Canton Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a three-car crash involving a Summit County Sheriff's and Springfield Township police cruiser.
Around 9 p.m. Tuesday night, a Summit County Deputy Sheriff was conducting a traffic stop in the right lane of Arlington Road south of Krumory road in Coventry Township when 44-year old James Aronhalt allegedly struck the rear of the deputy's cruiser and pushed it into the rear of the Springfield Township cruiser that was on the scene.
There were two Summit County Sheriff's Deputies and Springfield Township police stopped in the right lane southbound with emergency lights flashing overhead during the traffic stop.
All of the officers were outside their vehicles at the time of the crash. No injuries were reported.
Aronhalt was arrested for OVI and was transported to the Springfield Township police department, where he later refused a breath test .
He was charged with OVI, assured clear distance and refusing a chemical test due to the fact that he has at least one prior OVI conviction within 20 years.
Aronhalt was issued a summons into court and later released.
