Two men were arrested after police say their target practice involving an AK-47 sent bullets flying into homes in Medina County.

Montville police say they recieved reports of rapid gunfire in a resedential neighborhood. When officers arrived on scene, residents told police that the gunfire had stopped. A short time later, a second round of gunfire erupted while officers were investigating the incident.

During the second round of gun fire, residents continued to call police stating that their homes had been struck again by bullets.

Police then found the two men in the 5000 block of Windfall Road and ordered them to the ground. Mark Bornino, 53, of Medina and R. Daniel Volpone, 45, of Parma were taken into custody.

Police found an AK-47 assault riffle with 628 rounds, and three handguns with just under 100 rounds of ammunition.

Upon further investigation, police say the men had been drinking alcohol and shooting at paper target with not back stop. The homes that were struck by the bullets were around 500 yards away.

No injuries were reported. Both homes that were hit were damaged.

Units from the Medina Township Police Department as well as the Medina County Sheriff' Department assisted with the arrests.
