The Medina Post of the State Highway Patrol is investigating a serious crash Tuesday morning that resulted in a 37-year old man being hospitalized.

The crash occurred on US 224 westbound at the intersection of Vandermark Road in Harrisville Township around 5:50 a.m.

The accident occurred when Shane  Elswick was driving his Toyota Camry northbound on Vandermark Road. Mr. Elswick entered the westbound lanes of US 224. That's what he crashed into the front of a semi early Tuesday morning.

Elswick was not wearing a seatbelt during the time of the accident and was ejected from his car. He sustained serious head injuries and was flown by helicopter to Akron City Hospital where he is listed in guarded condition.

The semi driver was uninjured.

Alcohol is not a factor in the crash, and it currently remains under investigation.
