UPDATE Akron Firefighters Battle Paper Company Blaze

Akron firefighters managed to bring a fire under control this morning at the River Valley Paper Company in the 100 block of North Summit Street.

When firefighters arrived shortly after 6am they found the back of the building on fire.

The flames consumed large paper rolls but the fire was contained to the rear of the plant.

Firefighters brought the fire under control at about 8:20 this morning.

There were no injuries, and the cause remains under investigation.

(Earlier AkronNewsNow coverage) Akron firefighters are on the scene of a commercial building fire at 131 North Summit Street this morning. When firefighters arrived at the River Valley Paper Company they discovered smoke and flames at the rear of the building. The fire is still not under control. No further details are available at this hour.
