Teenagers were involved in a pair of incidents over the weekend in Akron.
Police say two teens tried to rob a couple of walkers heading to a home on Bertha Avenue Saturday night. One of the suspects had a gun, and fired a shot, but the victims fled and nothing was stolen. The suspects were described as two black males, around 17 years old. Police are asking for any information leading to an arrest in that case.
Then early Sunday morning, officers tried to pull over a Land Rover near East Avenue and Vernon Odom Boulevard, but the vehicle took off instead. The driver ran through several stop signs before going off the road near Campbell and Lane Streets. He then put it in reverse, hit a police cruiser, and took off again.
The driver, 18-year-old Lexington Jacobs, was apprehended on Taylor Street. Police found crack cocaine in his pockets. Jacobs is behind bars, charged with Assault on a Police Officer and possession of crack cocaine. No officers were hurt.
