A crime alert out for the University of Akron, following a shooting on Friday afternoon.

It occurred off campus at 3 p.m. near the 100 block of Annadale, east of Route 8.

Witnesses described the shooter as a skinny black male wearing red shoes. He fled north to Spruce Street, where he entered a small silver vehicle, which then headed north to Market Street. No further description of the suspect is available.

Police recommend that if you are in the neighborhood, remain in your home.

One person was injured and has been taken to the hospital. No update on their condition.

Students and staff were notified of the incident through text and e-mail Friday afternoon.
