It wasn't a pumpkin carving contest, but it sure looked like it. Snow leopards at the Akron Zoo used their claws to play with the seasonal treat to keep active during the fall.
"We like to give them items that will physically or mentally stimulate them, or stimulate natural behaviors," said Sarah Kirkman, wild animal keeper with the Akron Zoo.
Raj and Sabu were born at the zoo this past May. The five-month-old cubs are given a different treat everyday to explore different objects and scents. The cubs are given everything from fire hose balls to cardboard boxes
"They're becoming really adventures. They're very curious, very playful. They do learn a lot from mom."
Kirkman says the cubs will become very playful in the snow this winter, which is similar to their natural environment.
Boo at the Zoo continues through this weekend from Oct. 26-28. Visitors can visit the cubs and enjoy festive decoartions with 12 trick-or-treat stations for the kids.
