A couple of former local Boy Scout leaders were among those accused of sexual abuse according to the "perversion files" released by order of the Oregon Supreme Court.
The Falls News-Press reports the documents allege a 28-year old troop leader from Cuyahoga Falls attempted to hypnotize a 12-year old Scout before sexually abusing him in 1972 at Camp Butler in Summit County.
The newspaper says the troop leader later admitted to the encounter as described by the Scout. The Boy Scouts of America did not pursue criminal action, but he was directed to leave camp and seek treatment.
Another alleged incident involving a 26-year old Hiram troop leader occurred in 1966 was among those documented as well.
The "perversion files" contained hundreds of incidents documented between 1959 to 1985. You can read the Boy Scouts of America's letter to parents here
