A house fire in Akron trapped people inside a home for a short time Monday afternoon.

Crews worked on the scene on 22nd Street, near Battles Avenue. A fire dispatcher says two people were taken to the hospital for treatment.

The elderly man and woman, who were in the home at the time, were suffering from smoke inhalation. The dispatcher did not disclose which hospital is treating them.

Firefighters are still working on a damage estimate and a cause of the blaze. No other injuries were reported.
