One man was killed, and seven others were injured, in a head-on crash at a Wayne County intersection Saturday evening.

The Ohio State Highway Patrol says it happened on Ohio 3 just north of Wooster in Canaan Township.

The Patrol says 36 year-old Melvin Romanchik failed to stop when pulling into the intersection, and that his car struck a vehicle driven by 44 year-old Thomas Lockard Junior head on.

Romanchik was pronounced dead at the scene.

His 5 year-old son was sent by lifeflight helicopter to Akron Children's Hospital, and a passenger in the front seat was lifeflighted to Cleveland's MetroHealth Medical Center.

Lockard and his wife Kim and their two children were transported to Wooster Hospital, and one passenger was sent by helicopter to Akron Children's Hospital.

The events that led to the crash are still under investigation.
