A registered sex offender was arrested Friday by authorities after allegedly having sexual conduct with a 14-year old Medina girl.
WKYC-Channel 3 News reports 21-year old David Covan, who is a registered sex offender in Summit County was already on probation for unlawful sexual conduct with a minor.
Covan was arrested on charges of gross sexual imposition on a warrant issued by Medina Police. He was taken into custody by Akron Police at Oriana House without incident.
He is currently being held at the Medina County Jail and was scheduled for his initial court appearance on the charges Monday.
Channel 3 says Medina Police Chief Patrick Berarducci commended both the Akron Police Department and the Summit County Probation Department for their assistance during the investigation.
Medina Police received information from the Summit County Probation Department, who asked for assistance in identifying the teenager.
The case is still under investigation and additional charges are anticipated when the case is presented to the Medina County Grand Jury later this month.
