A 40-year old Akron man will be past retirement age by the time he gets out of prison.

Brolin Payne was sentenced to life in prison, with the earliest parole opportunity not until 25 years from now, for the repeated rape and sexual assault on an eight year old girl over a six month period.

Payne was sentenced today by visiting Judge Dick Reinbold in Summit County Common Pleas Court. Should he ever get out of prison, he would have to register as a Tier III sex offender mandating regular registration with local law enforcement for the rest of his life.

(Summit County Prosecutor - news release) Summit County Prosecutor Sherri Bevan Walsh announced today that Visiting Judge Dick Reinbold sentenced Brolin Payne, 40, of Grand Avenue in Akron, to life in prison with parole eligibility after 25 years.

Judge Reinbold also deemed Payne a Tier III sex offender. Payne will have to register with the Sheriff’s Office every 90 days for the rest of his life if he is ever released from prison.

Payne repeatedly raped and sexually assaulted an eight-year-old girl over the course of six months.

On July 25, a jury found Payne guilty of Rape, a felony of the first degree, and Gross Sexual Imposition, a felony of the third degree
