The price of gasoline is going up. In some cases, it's already there. Gasbuddy.com shows some gas stations in the Akron area asking $3.99 a gallon. Many others have increased a dime to $3.95 just since this morning. Patrick DeHaan with Gasbuddy.com says it actually started Monday with a 32-cent hike to retailers.
"We saw the largest single-day increase in wholesale gasoline prices in a year," said Patrick DeHaan with gasbuddy.
DeHaan says some oil drilling operations and refineries in the Gulf have shut down as soon-to-be Hurricane Isaac continues to churn through the Gulf of Mexico. The shutdowns have created a smaller supply to meet steady demand.
DeHaan predicts that drivers in Indiana and Michigan and possibly Ohio will pay a little more than $4.00 a gallon by the weekend.
