A Firestone Park man changed his pleas to "guilty" on charges of murder and felonious assault.
Daniel Smelko, 49, was charged with murder and felonious assault for the January stabbing death of his mother, Pat Sees, 72.
They apparently had an argument, prompting Smelko to stab the woman in the chest. Family members were concerned when they couldn't touch base with Sees, so they contacted police. Police found Sees's body and later discovered Smelko hiding in an attic.
Smelko was sentenced to 15 years to life, making him 64 years old at his first possible chance at parole.
