The Summit For Kids Program will be returning once again to provide some education and fun to area youth.

Akron Children's Hospital President and CEO Bill Considine says there's a host of free health services for children.

"You can get free back-to-school physicals, immunizations, dental screenings, vision screenings, and other health services," Considine says.

That won't be the only aspect of the program as there will be experts there to help you talk about nutrition, snacks, foods for kids and ways to prevent childhood obesity.

Summit For Kids, which is in its third year, will be held at the John S. Knight Center in downtown Akron from 10 a.m. to 4p.m. Saturday August 18th.

Considine says he credits those who put the event together so that parents and children can reap the benefits.

"It's being put together by a spirit of collaboration for our young people to give them a fresh start heading into the new school year," he explained.

Summit County juvenile court judge Linda Tucci Teodosio says kids can get help stocking up for school, and also have some fun.as well.

"You can get free school supplies, as well as see some quality entertainment that reaches to all kids from small children all the way up to teenagers," Teodosio says.

There will also be a fashion show as well as some appearances from some well-known superheroes such as Captain America and Spider-Man.

Over the last couple of years, Summit For Kids has drawn more than 10,000 families to the Knight Center.
