Northeast Ohio Republican leaders have picked their replacement for Rep. Steve LaTourette on the November ballot.

The Plain Dealer reports that the party has tabbed Geauga County prosecutor David Joyce to appear as the Republican candidate on the 14th District congressional ballot.

LaTourette announced his retirement last month, and pulled his name from the ballot this week, citing the demise of bipartisanship in Washington.

A 14 member commitee of area Republican leaders made the choice in meetings today.

Joyce has been prosecutor in Geauga County since the late 1980s, and worked often with LaTourette when he was prosecutor in Lake County.
