A 68-year-old man shot his estranged wife in the knee in her Jackson Township home, then killed himself in a parking lot hospital where his wife was being treated early Wednesday morning.

Jackson Township police say Danny Owens took his 58-year-old wife, Joye, to the Affinity Medical Center in Massillon before he fatally shot himself near the facility. He was found inside his car with a single gunshot wound.

The condition of Owen's wife has not been released.

Police say Owens shot his wife inside her Erie Avenue home following a verbal argument around 2 a.m.

Jackson Township police, Massillon police and the Stark County Coroner’s Office are investigating the shooting.
