The Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal two-car crash in Stark County that claimed the life of a Carrollton woman Wednesday afternoon.

Troopers say the driver of a GMC Safari went left of center on State Route 43 in Waynesburg and struck a Jeep Wrangler which was traveling in the opposite direction around 1:20 p.m.

The Jeep overturned and ejected the driver, Martha E. Lowe, 52, of Carollton. The Jeep then landed on top of Lowe. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

The 28-year-old driver of the van was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries. The 43-year-old passenger also suffered minor injuries, but refused treatment.

All those involved in the crash were not wearing a seat belt.

The crash remains under investigation.
