The long-time president of the Akron Better Business Bureau is retiring.
Victor Walazyn officially retired September 16th from the post he held at the local BBB since 1987, according to a press release from the Akron BBB.
Wlaszyn, who is originally from Ukraine served in the U.S. Navy, and also as Councilman for the city of Lorain before coming to the BBB system, first with the Cleveland BBB and then to the Akron BBB. During the 27 years Wlaszyn has been with the BBB system, he has formed partnerships within the local community that increased member benefits to include savings on insurance, healthcare costs, workers compensation fees, utilities, and other money saving offers.
Christy Page, previously Vice President of Finance, has been named interim President/CEO.
A search committee has been formed to review applications from interested candidates.
