Akron's METRO Transit has named a new executive director to replace Bob Pfaff who died earlier this month after a battle with cancer.
METRO RTA’s Board of Trustees appointed Richard M. Enty as the newExecutive Director at its monthly meeting Tuesday.
Enty joined METRO in 2011 as its Director of Planning. Enty was named the Interim Executive Director at the June Board Meeting.
Prior to coming to METRO he worked as a consultant for Lorain County Transit and served on the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad Board of Trustees for over 16 years.
In a news release METRO noted that Enty’s transit career began in 1977 at Greater Cleveland RTA. “His breadth of experience and knowledge of transportation issues are what garnered him the appointment,” stated Saundra M. Foster, Board of Trustees President. “His sole interest is to continue to grow METRO and make it the best transit system around.”
Enty says he's honored to further METRO’s mission. “I do not take this appointment lightly. I have enormous respect for those who preceded me. I plan to carry forth the current plans and look forward to expanding services, listening to the needs of our community and working with METRO’s dedicated Board and staff. We will set forth on a path of innovation, guided by our Transit Master Plan and Rail Freight Plan, to take METRO to the next level. I welcome this new challenge to help drive the Authority forward,” stated Enty upon his appointment.
