While home sales slumped nationally, Ohio saw an August increase.

For the first eight months of the year home sales in Ohio are still down by just over 6% compared to the same period last year.

The picture was brighter in northeast Ohio where in a 17 county region including Summit, Portage and Medina counties, sales of existing homes increased by 26% in August, compared to August of 2010.

But the average home sale price declined 4% to just over $130,000.
