A flame from a lighter turns into a house fire leaving two adults and two kids homeless.

Johnnie Player of the Akron Fire Department says the child was playing with the lighter in the bathroom when a basket of clothes caught and some paper on fire.

"The kid panicked...ran downstairs and told the mother. The mother got everybody out of the house," Player said.

Player said there were no injuries. Extensive damage was done to the second floor of the Hart Street home.

The family is receiving temporary shelter from the Red Cross.
