UPDATED Authorities report they've apprehended an Ashtabula County father who allegedly attacked the mother of his 17-month old son, stabbing her several times, before leaving with the toddler. The child has been recovered and is safe.

Police in the Ashtabula County community of Saybrook are looking for a father who allegedly stabbed his 17-month old son's mother, then abducted the boy earlier this afternoon. Authorities issued the regional AMBER Alert asking motorists to watch for Ernest Maurice Boles, 30, described as a black male with black hair, brown eyes, about 5'11" and weighs 195 pounds. His description is specific to include tattoos on both arms, neck, and torso and he may have his toddler son with him. The child was last described as wearing a dark blue shirt and black jeans.
