Authorities are investigating an apparent murder-suicide after an elderly couple was found dead in Medina Saturday night.

Medina police say the couple was found in their bed with a gun between them around 11:30 p.m on Nottingham Drive.

Authorities say Ronald Werner, 72, and his wife, Lillian Werner, 69, each suffered from a gunshot wound.

Detectives believe apparent frustration over the the couple's failing health may have led to the deaths.

A relative who had gone to the residence to check on the well-being of the couple found a note believed to have been written by Lillian and immediately contacted the Medina Police Department.

Detectives collected evidence, including clothing, papers and the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.

The case remains under investigation.
