UPDATE: 6:30 P.M
Canton Police and Fire officials are investigating a Tuesday afternoon fire that left a 3 year old child dead.
Crews were called to Penn Place NE around 12:15 this afternoon.
Battalion Chief Akbar Bennett tells the Canton Repository the heat caused power lines that cross the street to sag which kept firefighters from gaining entry to the house.
"We did a defensive attack and knocked down the fire," Bennett said.
The child was found on the second floor of the duplex. The identity of the child is not yet being released.
