An apparent drowning is being investigated in Portage County.

WKYC Channel 3 reports that a 22 year-old man was trying to swim at West Branch State Park at about 8 PM Saturday night, when two witnesses say they saw him go under the water trying to swim across a lake.

A dive team wasn't able to go into the water Saturday night due to unsafe conditions.

The body of the man was recovered Sunday afternoon at shortly after 12 noon.

The incident is being investigated by park authorities and the Portage County Sheriff's Department.
