It was an answer to prayer for the staff and congregation of the Akron Bible Church on Brown Street in Akron. A wheelchair lift donated to the church. As church officials waited for the lift to be repaired and put into  service a thief made off with all the copper wiring and controls for the lift, leaving only a steel shell.

But church member Brett Smith tells WKYC Channel 3 News the theft hasn't dampened their faith.

Mith had this message for the copper thief "You know God still loves those people. We want to pray for them too. That's our thing is to witness to the community."

As the news spread about the theft donations started to come into the church. Substitute secretary Cindy Murray says one man dropped 100 dollars on her desk, and the church has been receiving a steady stream of calls with offers of donations and help to replace the wheelchair lift.
