A 19-year old Akron man will have plenty of time to think about his decision to point a gun at three boys in a church parking lot. Cordell Benson, of Cree Street in Akron was sentenced Wednesday to nine years in prison.

On January 20, Benson and two juveniles stopped the boys as they were walking through a church parking lot. Benson pointed a gun at them while his accomplices took their money and two cell phones.

Akron police officers followed the suspects’ footprints through the snow to a nearby home, where they found the victims’ belongings and a loaded gun.

Benson pleaded guilty on May 14th to Aggravated Robbery, and Carrying a Concealed Weapon.
