If you see a lemonade stand on this hot day, it may not be just any ordinary stand.

The nationwide "Alex's Lemonade Stand" effort has stands this Saturday in Akron, Stow, Kent, Brimfield, Cuyahoga Falls and Medina.

It's an effort to raise money for childhood cancer research.

"Alex" was a young cancer patient herself, who at the age of 4 decided that selling lemonade would be a good way to raise money for cancer research for all kids.

One "Alex's" stand on Garman Road in Akron hopes to raise $2,000 by the time it closes at 2 p.m. on Saturday.  Other stands close at 3 p.m., and some run all day Saturday and Sunday.

Alex passed away in 2004.
