Stark County Sheriff's Deputies have made an arrest of a Paris Township man who allegedly stole brass grave markers of veterans.

After a month-long investigation 43-year old George Swogger is facing vandalism and other charges in connection with the incident.

In addition, Swogger was also charged with stealing gas, a license plate and a portable generator.

In a news release, Chief Deputy Rick Perez says Swogger was stopped at 11th Street SW and Bedford Avenue in McKinley Township.

The grave markers were found in pieces and deputies said they were stolen from cemeteries in Columbiana and Tuscarawas counties.

Both the Canton Police and the Carroll County Sheriff's Office contributed to the investigation.

Perez says the investigation is ongoing.
