An Akron man is convicted of his 11th DUI.

A jury found John M. Carano, 54, of Lake Vista Road in Akron, guilty of two counts of Operating Under the Influence, and a specification for having five OVI convictions within 20 years.

On August 6, a Sheriff’s deputy noticed Carano twice crossing the median as he drove from Springfield Township to his home in Akron. The deputy, who pulled over Carano as he pulled into his own driveway, found two open cans of beer, a machete and a club in Carano’s car. Carano refused the breathalyzer and failed portions of a field sobriety test.

Summit County Judge Tammy O’Brien will sentence Carano on June 28.
