With school back in session, keeping an "eye" on your child's eyesight is a must for success in the classroom.

Akron Public School Registered Nurse Laurie Celik says that there are several warning signs that shows your child is having trouble with their vision including rubbing of the eyes, squinting and moving closer to the front of the class.

"Some of the other observations that we might see or parents might see is if their out in the sun and they cover one eye because it's easier for them to see with one eye covered, or covering one eye when their out reading a book," says Celik.

Celik explains that state law requires children in school to recieve vision and hearing screening tests followed by a referral to an eye-care professional if needed.
