Family and friends of a former Barberton man is asking for his release from Haitian prison after he was arrested for taking part in a pro-military demonstration.

The Associated Press reports 39-year-old Jason "Zeke" Petrie is one of two Americans being held in prison after authorities say they drove pro-army demonstrators in the May 18th march.

Petrie's brother, Ben, told the Beacon Journal that he is concerned that Zeke is not getting medical treatment for his diabetes. He does not believe Zeke was involved in any illegal activity.

Zeke has been living in Haiti where he helps foreign journalists and visitors. He also works as a translator.
