Giant Eagle is pulling Farmer's Market bagged lettuce of its shelves after a recall was issued due to listeria concerns.
River Ranch Fresh Foods, a California-based company, expanded a voluntary recall of their bagged salads because of possible contamination with listeria monocytogenes.
The Farmer's Market brand is listed under the recall among other brands distributed nationwide.
The products have either “Best By” code dates between 12MAY2012 –29MAY2012 or Julian dates of 118 and 125.
Customers can return the product to the place of purchase for a full refund.
There have been no reported illnesses from the contaminated bagged lettuce.
Listeria can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail and elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems.
Consumers with questions can contact River Ranch at their 24-hour customer service center at 1-888-624-2569.
