All over the city, Akronites are cringing at the response of Mondays Akron School Board meeting where millions of dollars in cuts were voted on by the Akron School Board.

Teachers, custodians, after school programs and much more were and still are on the chopping block as APS attempts to make up a $22 million deficit .

Public officials like City Council President, Marco Summerville and Akron Mayor Don Plusquellic have had their own opinions about the cuts and where they think blame should be aimed.

Plusquellic says "The state needed to fix the school funding issue, theres entirely too much reliance on property taxes on the local level and that the state needed to fix it."

The cuts may ultimately have an effect on the entire Akron area, including businesses moving or expanding to the area.

Plusquallic continued to say "At some point hopefully the citizens realize it and just voting no on levys doesnt do what they think its going to do, all it does it hurt the kids"

The deadline for all the budget cuts for APS is due July 1st
