Akron-Canton Airport was the scene of a mock disaster drill mandated by the Federal Aviation Administration every three years.
As much as we don't want this day to happen, it's still important that we prepare for the unlikely event of an emergency," said airport Senior Vice President Kristie VanAuken.
Personnel from about 50 local and federal fire and law enforcement agencies and other first responders as well as some private businesses are participating.
VanAuken said about two hours before the event started that she did not know yet the theme of the mock disaster, but she suggested terrorism or a plane crash are among the possibilities.
