Police have made an arrest in the shooting that killed a 19-year-old woman in Akron.

Demarco D. Wright, 18, of Canton was arrested shortly after the shooting and has been charged with murder and felonious assault.

Wright allegedly shot Precious Love, 19, of Alliance early Sunday morning in a house on Carlysle Street off Cuyahoga Falls Avenue in Akron.

She was transported to Akron City Hospital where she later died. The Summit County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy today.

Love's best friend tells NewsChannel 5 that it was a tragic mistake. She says Love's boyfriend was playing with what everyone thought was an unloaded gun, when it went off when he pulled the trigger and struck Love in the chest.

The homicide remains under investigation.

Wright has been booked into the Summit County Jail.
His arraignment hearing is scheduled for today at Akron Municipal Court at 9:00 a.m.
