Investigators are looking into the shooting death of a young Canton woman at an Akron house early Sunday morning....a shooting that could have been an accident.

The Summit County Medical Examiner's office says 19 year-old Precious Love of Girard Avenue SE in Canton was shot by another person at a home in the 600 block of Carlysle Street in Akron, at about 2:30 on Sunday morning.

She died of her injuries less than an hour later, at about 3:10 AM, after being transported to Akron City Hospital.

Love's best friend tells NewsChannel 5 that it was a tragic mistake. She says Love's boyfriend was playing with what everyone thought was an unloaded gun, when it went off when he pulled the trigger and struck Love in the chest.

Earlier Sunday, the Medical Examiner's office had called Love's death a homicide, and it's investigating the death along with the Akron Police Department.

An autopsy is scheduled for Monday.
