A 25-year old Akron man is now in jail after assaulting a police officer as they tried to arrest him early Monday morning.

Police say Adam Wells of Redfern Avenue is charged with assautling a police officer, escape, aggravated menacing and resisting arrest, after he allegedly threatened his neighbors with a knife as officers were trying to arrest him.  He refused to be handcuffed and fought with officers, falling on one officer injuring the officer’s knee. Wells then got up and ran into his house. After a few minutes he came back out and police tried to handcuff him again. This time as he started to pull away, officers put him down on the ground; He then tried to grab one officer’s gun.

He was finally handcuffed and taken into custody without further incident.
