Akron Police Help Family Escape House Fire Featured

Akron police helped a family of three safely get out of a house fire early Thursday morning.

Police officers near the home in the 100 block of West Burns Avenue noticed the flames and helped the family exit the home.

Fire crews said they arrived on scene shortly after 1 a.m.

Officials say the fire started on the back porch. The home sustained damage to the first and second floors. 

No one was injured in the fire.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
