A Canton officer once photographed while sleeping on the job got a wake-up call from his boss.

The Canton Repository reports Officer Christopher Heslop was issued a letter of reprimand ealier this month for sleeping on duty during the early morning hours of December 19th.

An investigation was launched by a photo taken by a person seeking help after a nearby car crash. Sleeping on duty is a violation of the city’s rules and regulations according to the Canton Police Department.

Heslop told his supervisors his doctor gave him a new perscription and apologized for his actions and any embarrassment he may have caused.

Canton Police Chief Bruce Lawver said in the letter he appreciated Heslop's professionalism and said he was confident he was taking the proper steps to make sure that this is not a repeat occurence.
