An Akron school board member and another board candidate will no longer be on the upcoming ballot.
There are only two candidates left for three seats available for the November election.
Board member Amy Reeves Grom was short 13 of the 300 valid signatures that she needed. School board candidate John R. Sans only came up with 271 valid signatures.
Grom tells AkronNewsNow she doesn't know what her next move will be.
Grom says she may decide to apply for the seat vacated by the departure of fellow Board member James Hardy, who is running for an Akron city council seat.
Only two candidates remain, including board President the Rev. Curtis T. Walker Sr. and Akron businessman Tim Miller.
School districts in cities with a population of more than 100,000 require board candidates to collect 300 valid signatures to qualify for the ballot.
School board members say that if the seat is still vacant after the election, they may decide to include a write-in campaign or a January appointment.
