Akron police were led on a car chase early Friday morning.

News Channel 5 reports the driver led police on a pursuit that lasted more than 5 minutes after officers tried to pull him over near Massillon Road and Triplett Boulevard.

The pursuit ended when the driver lost control on Cramer Avenue and hit a tree. Police say during part of the chase, the driver was driving on the wrong side of Massillon Road.
