APD Investigating Early Morning Shooting Death

The shooting incident that we told you about near the intersection of Beechwood and Norway on Akron's west Side early this morning has resulted in a death.

Akron Police and the Summit County Medical Examiners Office are investigating the shooting death of 19-year old Yusef Daniels of Donald Avenue in Akron.

Akron Police discovered Daniels lying in the devil strip in front of 395 Beechwood, unresponsive with a gunshot wound. Daniels was transported to Akron General Medical Center where died from his injury at around 2:30 this morning.

An Autopsy is planned for today.

Neighbors told Akron Police they hear about 10 gunshots close to 2 o'clock this morning.

Lieutenant Rick Edwards says a second man, 18-year old Chevron J. Mapp of Marcy Street in Akron, was shot in the arm during the altercation. He was treated and released from Akron General Medical Center and booked into the Summit County Jail. Mapp was charged with Murder and Aggravated Robbery.

Detectives have issued warrants for a second suspect, 18-year old Charles L. Williams, of Beechwood Drive. Williams is wanted for Murder and Felonious Assault. Charles Williams is a black male, 5’10”, 238 lbs., and has a short afro. Williams should be considered armed and dangerous.
