AUDIO No Names On Lakemore Ballot 10/30/2009 1:05:42 PM | Tina Kaufmann, AkronNewsNow.com Five people and four open council positions in Lakemore. But none of them got their petitions filed in time, so they're all write-ins. advertisement "Write-ins themselves is unusual, and to have more than two in one race is unusual," says Summit County Board of Elections Deputy Director Bryan Williams. But in Lakemore, this isn't the first time they're seeing a write-in candidate. Current Mayor Mike Kolomichuk won as a write-in candidate in 2007. Williams isn't sure what happened in this case. "The candidates pull petitions and file by a deadline and if they don't make a deadline, they can file to be a write-in. Of course, when you file to be a write-in you are not required to have petitions, you don't have to go out and circulate, you just come in file, pay the fee and it's up to the voters to come in, write your name in and get you elected."
When a voter sees a blank line on the ballot for a write-in candidate, booth workers will give you a list of the names, but only if a voter requests it. Content © AkronNewsNow.com. All rights reserved.
