Hemera/Thinkstock(NEW YORK) -- The markets called it a day with only the smallest of gains on what is traditionally a slow week for trading on Wall Street.
 
Posting its first advancement in three days, the Dow added five points Wednesday, closing at 13,107. The Nasdaq gained four points at 3,081 at the session's close, and the S&P ended the day up just one point at 1,410.
 
The Federal Reserve says the U.S. economy grew at a moderate pace in July and August, mainly due to stronger retail sales. The Central Bank said hiring was more positive over the six-week period, but that there's still plenty of room for improvement.
